Wind plants. Windmills employ many high quality gears as they transform the kinetic energy of the wind into electricity (main gearbox) and orient the blades, setting them in the best position according to wind direction and velocity (yaw and pitch). High quality steel, reliable heat treatment, precision grinding finish and 100% final inspection are the key elements of these gears.
Solar plants. Utility-scale CPV plants require special gearboxes. They must precisely track the sun as it moves in the sky and ensure that there is no backlash, prevent losses under gusts of wind; moreover, they must withstand 30 years in the desert without maintenance.
Rail gears. They share the size, precision and reliability of gears used for renewable energy applications as well as meeting low noise requirements.
